Real Life SuperHeroes

It's the dawn of a new era....
the majority of the populous sit on their rumps ignoring key issues
which will inevitably distort the course of our future,
under the belief that they themselves don't have to lift a finger or raise a vocal chord
expecting someone similar to Superman to come along and fix the situation.
Obviously no one person can take on the entire government,
but a nation of many can rise against all that cripples us.

Of course there's firefighters, police, & those in the medical field who play their part in keeping America safe.
But there also remains a selective dedicated few who stand up to everyday oppression on a smaller individual scale,
from those who beat up would-be rapists & muggers to those handing out food to the homeless.
Parodied in such recent films as Kick-Ass & Defendor.
There exists many average citizens who have taken it upon themselves to dawn cloaks and various forms of armor to protect humanity. To lend a hand in our darkest hour.
(I feel like I'm ghost-writing the beginning of a sub-par narrative for Stan Lee)
This special breed of citizen holds similarities to superheroes penned by Marvel & DC
yet surely receive a fair share of ridicule as ultimately they look corny as all hell in comparison to regular people on the street.
One might argue they look like nerds en route to the local Comic-Con convention via the short bus.

Give them their due, for....
They are our everyday Heroes
Much larger than those panty waist Guardian Angels
These heroes volunteer their services to help in such diverse areas as:
rescuing cars that have been clamped due to being illegally parked:

rescuing drunk women from being taken advantage of
&
protecting our political system

According to CNN superheroes numbers are allegedly on the rise due to our economic downfall.
A representative from Superheroes Anonymous reports there lies between 250 to 300 superheroes worldwide.
Of course, where there's superheroes there also exists multiple super villains
such as the organization known as ROACH

With fame comes controversy, and superheroes are no stranger to this:
such as Tennessee's assertion that the Viper is breaking the law
in regards to an ordinance which bans people from wearing masks in public.
Attempts to discover the identities of said superheroes is on the rise,
in some instances even offering rewards.
Imitations superheroes are increasingly arrested in Hollywood.

Superheroes are of course not exclusive to the United States:
The University of the Philippines is home to the Filipino Zorro who patrols the campus protecting students.
And with all the violence presently in Mexico one wonders if Superbarrio is doing his job?

For those aspiring heroes out there lies the Real Superheroes Manual which instructs candidates.
There's even specific websites which exclusively sell capes, masks, & battlesuits.
