Police Lie

only place they can't lie is while testifying under oath in court.
They may fabricate evidence (i.e. fake fingerprints)
or lie to obtain evidence they believe you are withholding.
They may also use a victim as leverage,
such as insisting that if you own up to the crime the victim will be free, safe, etc.
These tactics are most effectively used on juveniles.
